Level 2 sailing course

Level 2 Training Course - Becoming a competent light wind sailor

Having completed the Level 1 course you will now be ready to go further and to master sailing a dinghy in good conditions.

Again, this course is very much a "hands on course" and most of the time is spent out on the boats with your instructor near-by.

By the end of the course you will be able to sail a triangular course, on all points of sailing, in a controlled manner and you will be grinning from ear to ear too. Such is the feeling of achievement you get when you have mastered the basics.

You'll be using the club's training boats, the Laser Picos, the RS Feva's and Wayfarer and again, we'll supply all the equipment and instruction you'll need.

The syllabus includes the following;

  • Sailing a boat to windward
  • Across the wind
  • Away from the wind

The "5 Essentials"

Can This Boat Sail Correctly

Can - Centreboard and its use.

Trim - How to trim the boat

Balance - How to balance the boat

Sail - settings for all points of sailing.
